Scritch Scratch Scraww Plop!
Scritch Scratch Scraww Plop! is a tender fairytale for the youngest, which intertwines strong feelings and rich imaginations. A frog called Jeremy is afraid to go to sleep. What is the sound – scritch scratch scraww plop – he can hear under his bed? Jeremy’s father tries to convince him that there is nothing to be afraid of. All until he himself lies down in the bed and hears the scritch scratch scraww plop. When they both step out of the house, they discover that the scritch scratch is coming from a mole digging a hole, the plop from a fish jumping out of water and scraww from a nocturnal bird.
When the children follow the story about the night fears of the little frog, they too are a bit afraid because they identify with the main character. Together with the frog, they search for a solution and seek solace, at the same time resolving their own tensions and troubles. A theatre performance can also become a space which children “enter” and realise that it is not so bad if you are small and fearful. Such stories give children important messages: that fear exists and that everyone can have their own fears.
