Four strangers enter a vast field of sand. Together they build a fragile and ever-changing world: Grains of sand give rise to the universe, time, creatures, landscapes, natural phenomena, moods and attitudes, architectures and objects.

Through relationships the strangers become diverse and distinctive, courageous and fearful, watchful observers, sympathetic friends, angry competitors, loving builders, determined destroyers, fleeting companions, waiting spectators, as well as curious explorers. Stubborn exaggerations lead them into dead ends, vain irreverence into chaos, well-meaning complexity into action. The formation of a common language as the basis for living together leads to making compromises, establishing rules and  a common flow of life. Playing in the sand pit stands as a a metaphor for the emergence and balance of co-existence.
