The performance Sunflower on the Moon presents on stage sixteen songs for children from the newly rewritten anthology Sunflower on the Shoulder, published by Mladinska knjiga Publishing House in 2017. The anthology tackles poetry irrationaly – instead of contemplating about it, it rather listens to it, observes it and touches it. It takes us to the world of synaesthesias, where every new letter opens a new universe of meanings. The songs, used in the performance, are written by such prominent Slovenian authors as Milan Dekleva, Borut Gombač, Niko Grafenauer, Barbara Gregorič Gorenc, Miklavž Komelj, Miroslav Košuta, Feri Lainšček, Svetlane Makarovič, Vinko Möderndorfer, Boris A. Novak, Nebojša Pop-Tasić, Lila Prap, Andrej Rozman - Roza, Jože Snoj, Peter Svetina, Bina Štampe Žmavc and Saša Vegri.
»I can maintain without hesitation that language is the most perfect medium, as it is able to create an image of the universe with just a few scribles, » explains in the theatre programme dramaturg and poet Nebojša Pop-Tasić. »Letters are the beginning of magic. A letter itself looks like an ordinary scrible, like nothing, until we define its meaning or voice. When a letter becomes audible, it develops into much more - turning from a mere scrible into a sign, a note, a musical space, it gradually conceives pictures with its sonority. Thus, one letter sets up sonic (and mental) space ...«

In recent years the director of the performance Mare Bulc established himself as one of the most interesting theatrical directors for children and young people. Collaborating with his permanent team of artists (also including - beside the already mentioned dramaturge Nebojša Pop-Tasić - Damir Avdić, Sanja Grcić, Damir Leventić and Sebastjan Starič) he tackles his performances through experimental requestioning of mainstream threatre forms and genres for young audiences, always approaching them, however, with clear thoughts and standpoints. Last year Mare Bulc received the Award for Best Direction, granted by the 9th Biennial of Puppetry Artists of Slovenia for his performance What if …?, staged by the Maribor Puppet Theatre.
