A Mouse Called JulianPuppetry performance based on the picture book by Joe Todd-Stanton, length 30 min

By a strange coincidence, the reclusive Julian one day meets a fox one day. Initially timid and reserved, the two heroes soon find themselves having a nice dinner and slowly realise that they have found a friend for life in each other. Two completely different animals, which in nature could also be in a predator-prey relationship, become involved in a friendship that should never have developed at first glance.

The picture book about a mouse who is annoyed by co-existing animals raises an important point about accepting fellow beings as they are. By introducing two completely different protagonists, the author also emphasises the importance of tolerance and getting to know each other, even if it seems at first glance that they want nothing to do with their new acquaintance.

The production is based on the themes of overcoming fear, the richness of friendship and relationships and is directed by the renowned and award-winning LGL animator Asja Kahrimanović. The production, which marks her directorial debut, uses puppets made by illustrator, musician, graphic designer and versatile artist Jure Engelsberger - Engels. Together with an extended creative team, they have created a gentle but exciting adventure that emphasises that life can be more enjoyable if we let others in once in a while.

Joe Todd-Stanton is originally from Brighton and was trained as a young artist by his mother, an illustrator. He later studied illustration at UWE before moving to London, where he currently lives. His children's book The Secret of Black Rock won the Waterstones Children's Book Prize (illustrated category) in 2018 and he has since written and illustrated seven books for Flying Eye Books.

Asja Kahrimanović is an actress and animator and of the LGL ensemble. She received her training as a puppeteer at the LGL Puppet and Theatre Studio. After her puppetry training, she studied acting at the AGRFT, where she completed a master's degree in 2013. In addition to her active work at LGL, she has also performed at SNG Drama Ljubljana, Ljubljana City Theatre, Mladinsko Theatre and Glej. She has received several awards for her animation and acting performances, including the Pengova Charter of UNIMA Slovenia (2019) and three awards for animation at the Biennial of Puppetry Artists of Slovenia (2015, 2019, 2021).
