The Small Theatre from the End of the World, Opus 2 (Festival LUTKE)Visual theatre, non verbal, length 55 min

In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, industry organised the workforce on a forced march in the service of victorious capitalism.
Emancipation and progress were promises made at the cost of working class sacrifice. The Small Theatre from the End of the World is an exploratory triptych by Ézéquiel Garcia-Romeu. Opus 2 - the second part of the triptych - was created at the interface between puppet theatre and visual installation. The desert landscape, in which creatures wander around in search of a better life, is created using various mechanical reels, automatons and static puppets. The images speak of the uncontrolled consumption of natural resources, of the cataclysm that seems to be approaching ever faster, and above all they raise the question of the position of the individual in a world of hyperproduction of everything.

Théâtre de la Massue is led by director, puppeteer, set designer and lecturer Ézéquiel Garcia-Romeu, who is actively involved in exploring new forms of performing arts, particularly in the field of contemporary theatre and puppetry. Since 1994, his creations have been presented at almost all the world's key festivals, including Festival d'Avignon, Berliner Festspiele and FMTM Charleville-Mézières.
