Inspired by the memories of Edith Eger, a Holocaust survivor, this movement and puppet theatre piece explores trauma, memory, survival and the difficult path to forgiveness. Through dance, visual imagery, fragmented memories and puppetry, the performance reflects a woman’s journey through unimaginable cruelty towards the possibility of inner freedom.
As a young Jewish woman imprisoned in Auschwitz, Edith Eger endured dehumanisation, violence, forced labour and the loss of her family. Years later, she transformed these experiences into a philosophy centred on healing, responsibility and the choice to live fully in the present. The performance does not attempt a realistic reconstruction of historical events, but approaches memory as a fragmented emotional landscape, full of ghosts, fragments and unfinished encounters. The performance combines movement, visual theatre and symbolic imagery to create a poetic reflection on the emotional scars that people continue to carry within them long after the violence has ended. Human bodies, puppets, objects and shadows coexist in an ever-changing space between the past and the present.
